Clues as to the identity of the unknown man
- He was between 20-30 years old at the time of his murder
- More than likely of Asian origin, although there is a 10 per cent chance he was not
- Between five-foot six and five-foot eight inches tall
- Very slim build, almost feminine build, with a particularly small head
- Genetic hip defect but this may not have affected how he walked
- Excellent condition teeth, although he had a crowded and narrow palate
- Four teeth removed, probably in childhood
- Suffered from iron deficiency anaemia
- Large sloping nose
- Bottom lip that protruded slightly
- Distinctive chin
- Probably lived in the UK most, if not all of his life
- May have lived in Wolverhampton or elsewhere near Birmingham
- Probably killed between October 2000 and June 2001

Symptoms
- Breathlessness
- Tiredness
- Dizziness
- Rapid or weak pulse, palpitations
- Headaches
- Pale skin
- Brittle nails
- Cracked lips
- Inflamed or smooth tongue
- A burning sensation in the tongue
- Dryness in the mouth or throat
- Brittle hair
- Difficulty in swallowing
- Occasionally people develop ‘pica’, a craving for a particular type of food, liquorice for example, or for a non food consumable like ice
Causes
- Stomach ulcers, piles, inflammation of the colon or bowel cancer, which can cause internal bleeding
- Kidney or bladder disease, which may cause blood to be passed in urine
- Chronic diarrhoea or gluten sensitivity
- Lack of iron in diet, although this is unlikely in the case of an adult living in the UK
- Cancer or rheumatoid arthritis
- Long term aspirin use
- Hookworm infection-this can occur in people who have travelled to tropical countries
