Peter Bleksley - TV Consultancy

Undercover Cops

Peter’s first taste of Television consultancy came when the documentary rights to his autobiography ‘Gangbuster’, were purchased by the highly renowned independent production company, Blast! Films. Peter later appeared in and worked as consultant on the two part drama-documentary series entitled ‘Undercover Cops’ which was shown on Channel 4 in April 2002.

'The previous two series of Murphy's Law have tended towards cliché, but judging by this first episode, series three may have finally nailed it'
Sarah Vine, The Times

In 2004 Peter was hired by Tiger Aspect Productions, to work as story consultant on the third series of the popular BBC1 drama, 'Murphy’s Law’, which stars James Nesbitt as the undercover cop ‘Tommy Murphy’. He worked closely with the producer, director and writers, assisting with story lines, characterisation and plot.

Many of the cast also called upon Peter's experience and knowledge to help them with their characters, and in May 2005 James Nesbitt told the Daily Express 'This series is a real departure-harder, more gritty and a lot of it is due to Peter Bleksley. I follow his advice to the letter. If he's not buying a scene then we'll change it. He's given me extraordinary insight into how Murphy would feel and act. In the past there has been too much of Jimmy Nesbitt in my parts but with Bleksley's help Jimmy has gone and it's all Murphy'.

Of Peter’s ‘expert tutelage’ Nesbitt continued, ‘It has really changed me, now I know I could take control in a threatening situation, and I’d be better equipped to react violently and efficiently if things turned nasty’.

Peter is currently working on series 4 of Murphy's Law.

Ghost Squad

Peter has also worked as an advisor to the highly acclaimed TV series ‘Ghost Squad’, which is produced by Company Pictures for Channel 4, and stars Elaine Cassidy as a cop called ‘Amy Harris’, who goes undercover in order to catch corrupt police officers.
